How To Make Perfumes Last All Day Long

by Guest Blogger: Suzainne Artes

You spent wads of cash for that luxurious bottle of Ambre Topkapi or Jar Parfums Bolt of Lightning so it only pays to do some research on how to wear it right and make it last for hours on end. Here are some easy-to-follow tips and tricks that will surely enhance your perfume’s longevity:

Tip #1: Spraying or dabbing your perfume on your “pulse points” will strengthen its staying power and will help it develop a larger than life projection. Pulse points are the parts of the body where you feel your heart beat; such as the wrists, behind the ears, throat, inner knees and arms and décolletage. These are the specific areas in the body where veins are near the skin. With the heart’s constant beating, the pulse points get warm. Perfumes significantly become richer and stronger when applied to these warm areas of the body.

Tip #2: Most perfumes come with accompanying body accessories such as lotions, shower gel or body oils. These products should be used along with the actual fragrance and serve as “layering agents” to make the scent cling on your skin for a longer period of time. First, use the shower gel to leave a gentle scent on the skin. Next, pat your skin dry and apply the body lotion to seal in the scent left by the shower gel. Finally, spray or dab the perfume on desired areas (particularly on the pulse points) and allow it to set along with the lotion before getting dressed. Not only will this technique provide additional wear time to your perfume, it will also make the scent bloom in full glory.

Tip #3: The natural oils in the skin typically absorb the scent of the perfume adding an intense depth to it. If your skin leans toward being dry, chances are the scent will not cling on your skin the way you would hope for. You can always follow tip #2 which is about layering the scent with its accompanying body accessories but what would you do if you just have the perfume alone? The answer is simple Рget an unscented body cr̬me or body moisturizer and put some on your palms then spritz it on with the perfume of your choice. Mix them together and apply all over the body concentrating on the pulse points.

Tip #4: Spray the perfume in the air and walk through it. Allowing yourself to be wrapped in a cloud of scent will evenly distribute the fragrance all over the body, hair and then some on your clothing which will bring out the delicate character of the perfume you’re wearing. The scent will hang into your clothes building up the staying power of the perfume. However, we don’t recommend spraying perfume on clothes directly because its concentrated amount can ruin the fibres of your clothing.

Now that you know how to make it last, learn what your fragrance means

The Yellow Polka Dot Bikini

 by Donna Stellhorn

Stepping out to the pool today? The color of your swim suit sends a message. It can be “come hither” or “get lost”. See if your bathing suit is sending the message you want to send.

Soft pink means “I don't bite”. Pink is a color that denotes friendly and safe. This color will signal that you're willing to be approached. Hot pinks and fuchsias have more energy and so you're approachable but they have to act quickly - you could get away.

A Blue bikini says “I'm easy going”. Blues, especially sky blue and aqua symbolize peaceful, happy coexistence. In these colors you will have time to read your book. Darker blues like a navy swimsuit is more formal and tells prospective partners to only proceed with caution.

Yellow indicates that you're a happy person. While yellow is a harder color for a lot of people to wear studies show that we associate the color yellow with personal happiness and optimism. You will be seen as a kinder person in this color bathing suit.

White is “what you see is what you get”. White doesn't denote purity as much as clarity. People will see you as straightforward and yet accessible. Wearing a white swim suit you will be seen as open and honest.

And of course there's red. Red says “Notice me, I'm available.” Nothing signals a desire to meet a romantic partner better than red swimwear. In this color you attract the most attention. After that it's up to you.
